Rajdhani Express: Point Blank Justice is socio-political Drama, which marks the Bollywood Debut of the Tennis Ace Leander Paes.
Keshav (Leander Paes), an aam aadmi, wants to break away from the shackles of a gun-runner, his godfather, and seeks freedom for a dignified life while dreaming of instant fame. But denied and prevented, escapes by stealing a bag of arms and a ticket fromDelhito Mumbai, on Rajdhani Express, with the intention to encash it and lead a better life.
He is set up even before he boards the train. Little does he know that the arms are dummy. He is unaware that Reena (Sayali Bhagat), daughter of his boss and his love has betrayed him by reporting this to the Police. Unknown to him the parents of Mumbai’s Home Minister are also on board and therefore even before the journey starts, ATS Mumbai, headed by Deputy Commissioner Yadav (Jimmy Shergill), known and dreaded for his fascist views and practice of instance justice, is all set to nab him.
Meanwhile, Keshav joins the company of Sunita (Puja Bose), an item girl, Banerjee (Priyanshu Chatterjee), a Screen Writer, Munish (Sudhanshu Pandey), the Celebrity Fashion Designer. All from the glamorous world which Keshav always secretly desired to be part of. They get to party and join a bare all game initiated by a drunk Sunita. She claims to be a prostitute to the shock of all, and dares others to open up likewise. Banerjee confesses to being a thief who steals stories for his Bollywood bosses.
Munish does not deny their wild guess of him being gay, but demonstrates otherwise by having it out with Sunita in the train toilet. The traditional T.T.E. (Gulshan Grover) is aghast by their alienated culture but keeps his moral ground to himself. Keshav however, cannot tell his secret. Soon he is distanced, despised and humiliated making him seethe with resentment till Sunita touches a raw nerve resulting in Keshav exploding and facing his distracters with a gun in his hand.
The scales tilt. From being a pariah, Keshav is now feared and respected by his co-travelers. Sunita panics, Munish gets manhandled and Banerjee tries to ingratiate only encouraging Keshav to play on and relish the new found power. This mock drama gets blown up as an act of terrorism with the media, now informed, telecasting about a terrorist on train threatening to blow it apart.
Precisely, this is what the Doctor ordered for Deputy Commissioner Yadav. He quickly gets into the game, and to get even with the Minister for demanding his transfer, surreptitiously tells Keshav about the parents of the Minister. The Minister more interested in the money lying in the accounts of his parents is determined for their safety at any cost. Yadav manipulates the Minister. However, it is soon discovered that Keshav is neither a terrorist nor is there any bomb in the train.
Nevertheless Yadav strikes a deal with the minister convincing him of extracting a political mileage from the elimination of Keshav. Banerjee and T.T.E. realize that Keshav will be the victim of an encounter and Banerjee as a natural impulse challenges the ATS (Mukesh Rishi) by threatening to be a witness. This results in Yadav targeting all of them to evade any evidence. Now not only Keshav but all are now, in danger. They have to find a way out; their attempts to get help fromPearl, the T.V. Anchor and Cousin of Munish, fail.
As the train approaches Mumbai so does their end. The T.T.E. feels that if Keshav was to be arrested by the Railway Police, with the rightful jurisdiction, the ATS would be warded off. Banerjee thinks it more appropriate for Keshav to jump off. Sunita and Munish only wish to get rid of him. For Keshav however, the choice between becoming a fugitive, and/or facing trial for life is like a choice between the devil and the deep sea. Even as Sunita tries to get help from a foreign lady, co-traveler and wife of a Central Cabinet Secretary, Munish apprehends calamity in event Keshav stays on.
Keshav makes his choice. Freedom is what he had wanted and freedom is what he will have even in form of death. Yadav cannot give up his scheme in fear of the Minister coming to know about him having directed Keshav towards the Minister’s parents.
Keshav, naively hoping that his playact of lunacy will save him, the question is , will it ? .
Rajdhani Express does have its speedier moments, often changing tracks towards the end, and is a tight thriller.
